Bulletin July 2023

Dakshinayana, has commenced from July 17th. Dakshinayana is the period when the ‘Devas’ are in their celestial sleep and regarded to be their nights. It is the period when Sun travels back from Cancer to Capricorn, from North to South. As the Sun travels to the South direction, this period is known as Dakshinayan. The rainy season, autumn and winter comes during this period. Nights are longer and days are shorter. Many auspicious ceremonies are prohibited during this period. This is a period of desires, lust, diseases and sorrow. Fasts, yagas, worships and other religious activities cure diseases and sorrows. Chaturmas, is observed for a period of four months and it begins from the day after Deva Sayana Ekadasi in Ashada mas and ends on Utthana Ekadasi in Kartik Mas. This period is of utmost importance to the Hindu community. These months are dedicated to prayers, rituals and worships. It is believed that celestial beings and saints do not travel. They stay stationed at one place and perform Tapas and intense austerities. The first month Shravan, is dedicated to Lord Shiva, especially Mondays. During the second month Bhadrapada, Ganesh Chaturthy and Krishna Ashtami are celebrated. Durga Puja, Navrathri falls during Aswin month. Chathurmas ends with Diwali.
The elections for the AATTD office bearers will be declared shortly. An election commission has been set up and they are in the process of finalising the electoral rolls. GSB’s residing in Ashtagramas, who completes the age of 21on Chingam 1st 1199, are eligible to vote according to the bylaws of AATTD. Members can check the electoral roll and confirm their names. New additions are possible if Aadhar copies are submitted before the election commission before the stipulated date. The same may be handed over to the Sabha Secretary.
AATTD election is of much significance to the GSB community in Trivandrum. Our Dharmic and religious activities is centered at Narasimha Vilas, which happens to be AATTD owned premises. Trivandrum GSB Samajiks are part and parcel of the Ashta Grama, and have voting rights. The last two AATTD committees have shown a totally negative and step motherly attitude towards the Trivandrum community. So it’s an important need from our part to exercise our votes and our power to elect only competent and learned persons who have Vision and Ability to uplift and protect our Society. Henceforth we should not allow any hypocrites and less abled to guide us. The Trivandrum society will have only one candidate who will be nominated by the general body of GSB Mahasabha, Trivandrum. “United We Stand, Together We Will Create Wonders.” The same principles holds good for the Trivandrum GSB Mahasabha elected council members. The tenure of the present council ends in August 2023. Elections for new Council members, is scheduled to be conducted on Sunday, 20th August 2023 at Narasimhavilas, 11 am. Persons having Integrity, Vision, Commitment and Ability should be selected for the betterment of our Samaj. Please exercise your rights wisely.
