Samachar

Bulletin – July 2022

The name June is of Latin origin and means “young.” The hectic month, June, the new academic year for the students has started off. Our samajik activities too, have picked up momentum. Participation level of samajiks, has increased during the last pooja, which indicates the appreciation of samaj and gatherings.

Tan Man Dhan” participation, are essential for an Institution. The Strength of Trivandrum GSB is attributed to volumes and tons of a single phenomenon; “SAMARPAN”. Contributions and Samarpan are entirely different. In a land where there was no religious institution of our own, temple, land, priest, political support, our predecessors in Trivandrum gathered together, created an organisation, invited new comers, regularly arranged and celebrated all GSB important days. They had contributed their time, energy, resources and their wisdom, for the functioning of an organisation, which they knew the next generation need to lean upon. This legacy of Samarpan of our elders is still continuing.

Three Samarpans in different forms has been made towards our Sabha this month. A benevolent, philanthropic Samajik of Trivandrum has made a Samarpan of Rupees One Lakh fifteen thousand and one (₹115001/-) in appreciation of the Samajik activities. This benefactor has requested us not to disclose his name. Another Samarpan of a “Divilee”, the significance of light, was made by Shri Ranjit Kumar. Shri Gopalakrishna Baliga, a former resident of Trivandrum, now settled in Aluva has made another Samarpan, by sending a valuable book, “The History of Saraswaths”, written by him and to be made available for reference in our library. This is another form of “Vighjnana”.

“Soundarya Lahari” meaning “Waves of Beauty” is a famous Prakaranagrandha in Sanskrit by Sree Sankaracharya. Some believe the first part “Ananda Lahari” was etched on mount Meru by Sree Ganesha himself. Gowdapadacharya, Guru of Shankaracharya’s Guru Govindabhagavadpada, memorised the writings of Pushpadanta which was carried down to Shankaracharya. Its hundred and three shlokas, praise the beauty, grace and munificence of Goddess Tripura Sundari as Goddess Parvati.

Soundarya Lahari Upasana Mandali, an organisation based in Trivandrum, is conducting a “Samooha Parayana Yajnam” at 108 divine temples and Sabhas. GSB Samaj in Trivandrum, is blessed to have them concluding their 108th Parayana Yajna in our Prarthana Mandir on 17th July at 10.30 am, during the Sathyanarayana Pooja. The reverberation of Sankaracharya Swamiji’s Soundarya Lahari, will be a great blessing to our Samaj. We welcome all members of the Mandali and let us participate in this Samoohaparayana Yajhna.

The Chathurmasa Vritha of our Mathadheesh H H Srimad Samyameendra Thirtha Swamiji, commences from 18th July at Sree Venkatramana Temple, Mangalore.

The present audio system in our Prarthana Mandir, needs to be replaced with a good sound system. Our council has decided to purchase a good audio system immediately.

The academic results of our students are coming out. We request all the students to furnish a copy of their mark list, along with a photograph.
